Mars seeks a Senior Director, Global Strategic Business Communications

This business enabling role is accountable for developing the internal communication approach aimed at building a shared consciousness about Mars Wrigley’s business strategy. The job holder will help the organization to connect culture-purpose-strategy. The position collaborates with global functions, regions, markets, and Mars Inc. on internal engagement strategies and communications platforms to deliver industry best practice internal communications. The role works directly with the MW global leadership team advising on how to engage associates in business-critical topics. You will be part of a lean and eager to transform team.
This role is based in Chicago, IL.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree required. MS/MBA is a plus.
10+ years of experience managing internal communications in regional or global roles.
Experience within CPG/Retail is preferred.
Experience of managing teams and using performance and coaching strategies to develop and build capabilities
Natural storyteller
Change management expertise and proven experience in applying change strategies to meet changing business needs
Solid project management skills - proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and ability to track projects with varying deadlines.
Experience and interest in managing/developing social media for internal audiences.
Exceptional English language skills
Can deliver inspiring and relevant messages across a range of media – written, video, design, social
Must be politically savvy, with ability to deal with all levels of management, as well as a variety of positions and personalities.
What would be your key responsibilities?
Develop and implement engagement strategies to maximise associates’ understanding and ambassadorship of the company strategy (global / regional / local) utilizing internal communication platforms, bringing continuous improvement to engagement tactics to key audience groups;
Strengthen internal communications capabilities with the corporate affairs community globally through training, guidelines, best practice sharing to support a consistent engagement story around the company strategy;
Enable line managers as sound internal communicators;
Develop visible leadership strategies in partnership with peers (e.g. P&O/HR, Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D, etc.) for the leadership community;
Ensure communications strategies and tactics of the team have robust and business focused measures in place, using Total Quality Management framework and internal communications industry best practices methods.
Proactively respond to crisis situations by collaborating with external communications peers to ensure consistent and clear communications which help to protect company reputation and maintain business activities.
The role is accountable to animate the global Internal Communications “community of practice” driving best practice and capability building.
