HR Director, Head of HR

Job Summary

The HR Director is responsible for driving HR strategies that attract, retain, motivate, develop and engage top talent to promote high performing teams and positive impactful employee experiences. As a member of the leadership team, this role will establish strong relationships across the agency and partner with leadership to work towards shared goals and translate business strategy into HR initiatives and programs. The position will also play a key role in supporting growth, change management, workplace culture and promotion of empowerment and accountability.

Responsibilities will include the following:

Leadership

  • Sits on the leadership team to direct strategic initiatives for the agency at large

  • Design programs and manage budgets for recruiting strategies, workforce planning, training and development, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and retention initiatives

  • Administer quarterly employee experience surveys and report findings to leadership

  • Coach leadership teams to manage strengths, diagnose performance gaps and identify solutions to improve individual and team performance

  • Manage and guide the careers of a small team that drives recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, training coordination, and office experience

  • Works in lockstep with Highwire’s Head of Diversity to ensure that diversity, inclusion and belonging inform every decision and program.

Recruiting

  • Support growth across 4 offices - San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago

  • Develop comprehensive, integrated recruiting strategies to attract top talent to enable growth and bring new expertise to Highwire

  • Proactively build talent pipelines through referral generation and sourcing campaigns

  • Partner with leadership and staffing team to determine long-term growth strategy and staffing plans for the agency

  • Oversee the college recruiting and career fair program

Performance Management

  • Provide HR consultation across our four offices in areas including performance management administration, talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, and employee relations

  • Oversee and drive Highwire’s performance management program including quarterly, goal setting, career planning, and annual 360 reviews

  • Be a trusted advisor to managers and employees to help them deliver their best work every single day

HR Operations

  • Create HR reports and dashboards that tie to business goals and help leaders make informed decisions

  • Monthly reporting and recommendations on recruiting and retention

  • Recommend and implement human resource process and policy changes along with internal communication recommendations

  • Support leave administration to include; FMLA, CFRA, CA PDL, short-term disability, and workers compensation. Complies with all federal, state and local requirements for leave

Success Factors

  • 10+ years of HR experience in professional services, agency or other fast-paced, people-centered organization with 5 years in a Sr. HR lead role.

  • Ability to build consensus, influence change, and build strong relationships at all levels across the agency.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsIncredible people skills and a clear passion for your work

  • Notable expertise in communicating with internal team members and external parties

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws

  • Resourceful problem solver with a go-getter attitude
