DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a dynamic team member to join our lean and effective HR/Operations Team. Our team’s mission is to provide support, facilitate growth and drive change across the agency as well as ensure that the employee experience is positive and seamless throughout their career with LaForce. 

In this role, you will help create, manage, facilitate and execute the functions and programs of our HR team. You will work closely with our Director of People & Operations, HR Manager and Talent Acquisition Specialist to set all employees up for a successful and meaningful experience here at LaForce and help create efficiencies throughout the agency. Candidates must be highly efficient, have strong problem-solving and multitasking capabilities and possess a “Go-Getter” attitude. Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of people development, can build engagement, is thoughtful, curious, resourceful, and has a propensity for creating and maintaining efficient, effective workflows. Candidates should have the ability to be comfortable with high-volume workload and not be afraid to "roll up their sleeves.” Experience working in Public Relations or related industry preferred. 

RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

Hiring and Onboarding Process/ Offboarding:

  • Shares final stage recruitment efforts with HR counterparts: responsible for hiring and delivering offer letters

  • Prepares for new hires: organizes, manages and conducts new hire orientations working with all departments necessary to prepare for employee’s first day

  • Manage employee separations and conduct exit interviews

 Employee Relations:

  • Serve as HR Business partner to designated team(s)

  • Be a trusted advisor and provide expertise and counseling for team leaders/ managers/ employees on issues or questions

  • Manage performance management process with HR counterparts; manage performance review and goal setting for the agency and assigned teams

  • Conducts ongoing meetings and check-ins with employees on assigned teams

  • Monitor overall agency environment and “pulse” of employee engagement in partnership with HR team members and Leadership Team

  • Identify opportunities and ideate events/ programs for agency culture and employee welfare

HR Compliance, Policies and Procedures:

  • Help define new and/ or improve policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with any company, legal or regulatory laws

  • Stay up-to-date on federal, state and city laws and ensure company is navigating and implementing any timely changes that are necessary

  • Assist with ensuring handbook and any necessary addendums are up-to-date

  • Maintain accurate and consistent employee personnel files and other related HR files

Payroll, Benefits and Administration:

  • Assist with / review agency payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees along with time tracking and entry for non-exempt employees; manage overtime approvals

  • Assist with benefit programs and enrollment as needed and identify and source new programs as necessary (including, but not limited to insurance, 401K, health & wellness, etc.).

  • Partner with PEO and assist with administration

Miscellaneous:

  • Help identify organizational/ employee training opportunities and plan/ manage trainings in partnership with Director of People & Operations and HR Manager

  • In partnership with Director of People & Operations and HR Manager, create committees to bring team members together to discuss a variety of topics that will in turn lead to newly created programs (i.e.: philanthropy, diversity, etc.)

  • Serve as a member of the Recruitment pillar of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee

  • Write HR internal communications as necessary to explain policy changes, etc.

  • Assist with updating internal tracking grids and documents that require ongoing updates

  • May assist with operations duties as required by the Director of People & Operations

Exercise discretion when dealing with information of a sensitive and confidential nature

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 4-5+ years of experience in Human Resources

  • Experience partnering with all employee levels, including senior management on complex employee issues

  • Proven experience working closely with top management in consulting, coaching, understanding the business needs and translating them into actionable HR plans

  • Possesses strong business acumen

  • Knowledge of employment law at the federal level and across various states

  • Natural and expedient problem-solver; strong communication skills; proactive; strong sense of urgency; dependable; trustworthy

  • Excellent coaching skills; takes an amenable, empathetic approach to HR and People
