Bliss Seeks Account Supervisor or Director – Healthcare Practice

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bliss Group is looking to hire an Account Supervisor or Account Director to join our growing health care practice.  Our ideal candidate will be adept at finding and telling business-to-business health stories. They’ll be eager to explain why what our clients do and how they think matters to a) running health companies well, and b) delivering better patient outcomes.

 

Our new teammate will drive media relations and owned content strategies for disruptors in health care delivery, with opportunities to lead accounts including digital health, life sciences and biotech. They’ll partner with our clients on strategy and story development, execute content creation initiatives, leverage their existing media relationships, and help drive both traditional and digital PR strategies. 

 

The ideal candidate has strong media relations experience and will bring relationships with national health business media that reach audiences of health payers, hospital and life sciences executives, government influencers, etc.  They must understand the paradigm shift that value-based care is bringing.  B2B health care PR/marketing experience is essential. Agency experience is a plus; we are also interested in speaking with candidates who led in-house communications teams and/or agency relationships.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Serve as the day-to-day support for select health care clients, managing both strategy and execution

  • Develop and edit content (bylined articles, blog posts, infographics, external marketing collateral and other press materials)

  • Develop media relations strategies, goals, media targets and pitch angles

  • Leverage your existing health business media relationships to secure top-tier trade and mainstream visibility

  • Serve as information leader on client teams, demonstrating industry or media-driven knowledge that directly and indirectly affects the client

  • Assist in the development of long-term client plans and program recommendations and developing budgets

  • Manage reporting mechanisms for client and account team

  • Coach/mentor junior staff and review their work for accuracy

  • May lead or support organic growth and new business initiatives

  • This role has a heavy media relations component (~65% of job) plus a mix of writing, research, strategy, account management, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 4-6+ years (AS); 6-10+ years (AD) public relations/marketing experience in health care is required; agency experience preferred but leaders of in-house programs will be considered

  • Relevant experience working with one or more of the following is required: the business of health, hospitals & health systems, life sciences, medical devices, health tech, clinical research, pharmaceutical companies

  • B2B communications experience is a must

  • MUST have strong media relations skills/experience and established relationships within healthcare

  • Keen understanding of global health authorities, regulations and experience with product launches

  • Exceptional writing skills a must

  • Experience managing accounts and client relationships

  • Understanding of digital media role in integrated communication strategies

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Works effectively within a team, demonstrating coordination, communication and problem-solving

  • Thrives in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment

  • Flexible approach; has the ability to change priorities against changing client and team needs

  • Ability to grasp complex content

  • Intellectual curiosity, a passion for learning about a rapidly evolving industry

    ​​​​​Work Location: temporarily remote but will be based in our NYC Office once we return in the coming months.
