Marketing Communications and Events Coordinator, DEI
Job Overview:
The primary responsibilities of the Communications & Events Coordinator, DEI are to implement tactical initiatives for events, own social media efforts, and support day-to-day operations that assist in meeting the organization’s goals. This position reports to the President and regularly communicates with C-level executives, Public Relations, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) industry organization leaders.
Responsibilities
● Planning and coordination of events and logistics including writing copy, scheduling speakers, management of email distribution lists and event registration, distributing announcements, and reviewing post-event data to identify and recommend growth opportunities for engagement
● Responsible for quarterly newsletter content creation, and distribution
● Maintain active database of speaker request inquiries
● Responsible for coordinating social media efforts for content calendar, including content development of graphics and copy, scheduling posts, and producing automated measurement reports with staff working on social media
● Coordinate and support stakeholder engagement programs. Conduct research, identify engagement strategies, ensure proactive outreach, and provide internal updates
● Organize and coordinate sponsorship activities
● Assist with internship program
● Stay abreast of industry best practices, benchmark reports, and trends
● Participate as an active listener and contributor in team meetings; prepare debriefs with timelines and action items
● Collaborate with the DAA’s PR agency to facilitate workflows
Qualifications
● Bachelor's Degree preferred (ideally in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, DEI) or two years related work experience.
● Deep interest in social justice; knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion
● Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills
● Exceptional attention to detail
● Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and are extremely proactive and value keeping others informed
● Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet established deadlines
● Working knowledge of social media channels and graphic design on Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop or similar platform preferred
● Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suites
Salary: $60K + Benefits
