VICE PRESIDENT JOB POSTING

Scott Circle Communications (SCC) is looking for a savvy, strategic, senior communications professional to lead impactful, integrated communication accounts for mission-driven nonprofit, association, foundation, and corporate clients. The VP will manage client relationships and junior staff - while still rolling up their sleeves and diving in to do whatever it takes to get the job done. This position is responsible for developing and directing client strategies and overseeing the implementation of integrated communications programs and campaigns.Strong writing skills and success with placing media stories are key to success at this job. This role also requires a broad knowledge of effective digital and social media tools and tactics. Solid organizational skills are a must, as is the ability to pivot when necessary to ensure our efforts have the greatest impact. In addition, the ideal candidate will be able to recognize emerging, unexpected needs quickly and to address them appropriately, independently, and in collaboration with other members of the SCC senior leadership team.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead all aspects of client management and projects with little or no supervision

  • Manage long-term and daily account management activity, such as strategic planning, onboarding, 

metrics reporting, media monitoring, budget tracking, etc.

  • Demonstrate an integrated agency mindset with the flexibility to quickly pivot strategy

  • Ability to identify and navigate emerging threats and opportunities

  • Supervise, mentor, and participate in the hiring of junior-level staff

  • Manage integrated teams, including client staff, external consultants, and vendors such as graphic designers, web developers, and writers

  • Conduct communications audits

  • Develop communications plans and oversee implementation

  • Develop and implement media relations proactive and rapid response strategies, including pitching broadcast, print, radio, podcast, and online media outlets, staffing media interviews, creating targeted national, local, and trade media lists

  • Develop original content including press materials, op-eds, and blogs 

  • Develop and implement digital and social media strategies

  • Analyze client metrics and reports and communicate findings both internally and externally

  • Cultivate new business and pitch potential clients

  • Contribute to researching, writing, and developing of new business proposals and presentations

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of marketing strategies and tactics to promote SCC

  • Various firm leadership duties

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years public relations experience

  • Previous experience in a Congressional, White House, or campaign press office and /or at a PR firm  

  • overseeing and running integrated campaigns and serving as client lead is strongly preferred 

  • Experience managing junior staff and a team of PR professionals

  • Strong knowledge of Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter platforms, and metrics

  • Deep knowledge of the media, including, but not limited to, health care, business, political, 

  • environmental, advocacy, and education outlets

  • Established relationships with members of the media

  • A consistent record of success in placing media stories with national and local outlets along with 

  • prominent bloggers

  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once

  • Excellent communications skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)

  • Must be highly organized, adaptable, detail-oriented, tenacious, and motivated

  • Proven track record of working independently and taking initiative

Because of the collaborative nature of our work, this position requires the ability to work in our office, in Washington, DC, on a hybrid basis.

SALARY RANGE: $115,000 to $140,000
